Alkaline Trio announce ninth studio album ‘Is This Thing Cursed?’
Listen to new song 'Blackbird'
Illinois punk rock heroes Alkaline Trio have announced details of their ninth studio album ‘Is This Thing Cursed?’
With Blink-182’s California Tour wrapped up last autumn, sole constant member Matt Skiba has returned to his day job to lay down the album with bassist Dan Andriano and drummer Derek Grant.
Released on Friday 31st August via Epitaph Records, the 13-track record was produced and mixed by Matt Cameron and is preceded by the single ‘Blackbird’ (not a cover of The Beatles track), which you can cast your cochleas on below.
The record is their first long-player since 2013’s ‘My Shame Is True’ and the five-year gap is the longest Alkaline Trio fans have had to wait between albums.
Co-vocalist Dan Andriano says: "The songwriting process is almost like what it was back in the day. We would just kind of write a song, be excited about it, then move on. We wrote in that spirit in the studio. I really feel like we made a record that the old school fans are going to dig.”
Supporting the album’s release, Alkaline Trio are heading out on an extensive North American tour that kicks off in August and wraps up in October.
“Seems like ages since we’ve properly toured and we couldn’t be more excited to get back out and play for the best fans a band could ask for,” says Matt Skiba. “If people are half as psyched as we are then it’s gonna be a party!”
The ‘Is This Thing Cursed?’ track-listing is as follows:
1) Is This Thing Cursed?
2) Blackbird
3) Demon and Division
