Aerosmith have been confirmed as the first headliner of the newly titled Calling Festival this summer.

The festival formerly known as Hard Rock Calling takes place at its new home, London’s Clapham Common, on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June.

Joining Saturday night headliners Aerosmith are the mighty Thunder, Seattle rockers Walking Papers and guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa.

Aerosmith’s Joe Perry said of the band’s slot: "Speaking for myself I’ve been so involved writing my autobiography I did not realize how long it had been since we have played across the big pond.

“It’s been far too long since we have performed in the UK. We can’t wait to bring back some of the classics as well as some of the new songs from Music from Another Dimension. We miss our UK fans. See you soon."

The event is set to feature multiple stages boasting 20 acts each day together with a string of other attractions.

Live Nation’s Vice President of Promotions, Toby Leighton-Pope, commented: “This year is one of the most exciting on record for the Calling Festival. We’re looking forward to bringing the new look event to Clapham Common, one of London’s premiere outdoor locations.

“And we’re bringing one of America’s most iconic bands to headline Saturday 28 June. There’s still lots of announcements to come, including a big Sunday night headliner, and we’re excited at what’s in store.”

Previous Hard Rock Calling headliners have included Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Paul Simon, Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney, The Who, Rod Stewart and Stevie Wonder.

Calling Festival tickets go on sale from 9am this Friday (7th March).
