AC/DC For Christmas No.1 Campaign Launched
The rock legends are listed 3/1 to score the festive chart-topper
AC/DC fans have launched a Facebook campaign to get the band’s 1979 anthem ‘Highway To Hell’ to the UK Christmas number one.
Set up just five days ago the has amassed 100,000 likes and bookmakers have already slashed the odds on ‘Highway To Hell’ being the festive chart-topper to 3/1.
The creators of the page are urging fans to download the song to celebrate AC/DC’s 40th anniversary this month.
Amazingly, despite a legendary four-decade career, the Australian hard rock icons have never scored a Top 10 single in the UK.
The AC/DC organisers will be hoping to match the success of Jon and Tracy Morter’s successful Rage Against The Machine campaign in 2009, which beat The X Factor’s Joe McElderry to the top spot.
Unsurprisingly, this year’s X Factor winner is currently listed by Paddy Power as 11/8 favourite for the Christmas chart summit.
Lily Allen’s cover of Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ from the John Lewis advert is also a contender for the prestigious no.1 spot.
