AC/DC and Axl Rose impressed at the first ever gig held at London’s Olympic Stadium on Saturday night (4th June).

With Axl free to prowl the stage having sufficiently recovered from the broken foot he sustained on stage in Los Angeles on 1st April, the rock powerhouses played a sprawling 23-song set that delved into material from ten AC/DC albums.

Punctual on stage and clearly delighted to be performing with his self-professed musical heroes, Axl was in good humour throughout and even took time to mention the British weather: "They told me it's cold. It's not f***ing cold, it's actually kind of nice. It's a nice place to be."

Shortly before ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Train’, he joked: “You on the party train? Don't get hit by the party train. I've been hit by the party train and it's f***ed up."

A typically lavish production with pyros, fireworks and giant cannons, the set was packed with bona fide classics like ‘Shoot To Thrill’, ‘Thunderstruck’, ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’, ‘Highway To Hell’ and the ultimate ‘For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)’.

As always, Angus Young was a livewire of energy throughout, duck walking with aplomb and taking centre stage for a massive guitar solo at the end of ‘Let There Be Rock’.

Axl’s fellow Guns ‘N’ Roses members Slash and Duff McKagan were both in attendance and heaped praise on the show as “memorable” and “an epic experience to the say the least.”

You can check out fan-filmed footage of the show below. The full setlist was as follows:
