AC/DC have confirmed that co-founding member Malcolm Young has retired from the band.

As if to cushion the blow of the sad news, the iconic rockers have also announced that their brand new album ‘Rock or Bust’ will be unleashed on 1st December through Columbia Records.

The Aussie legends have also confirmed the previous rumour that Stevie Young, nephew of Angus and Malcolm, will take up rhythm guitar duties.

The record will be the first in their 41-year career to not feature Malcolm, who has hung up his guitar due to the nature of his illness that took him out of action in April (the exact details of which are still unknown).

AC/DC fans will however have eleven new tracks to look forward to on the band's seventeenth studio album, the first of which will be premiered as part of the 2014 Major League Baseball Postseason coverage in the USA.

Lead guitarist Angus Young is now the only original member of AC/DC since their inception in Sydney, Australia back in 1973.

One of the best selling bands of all time, AC/DC have sold more than 200million records worldwide including 71million in America alone.
