Teenage girl dies following bus collision in Birmingham

The collision happened in Sheldon at just before 3pm yesterday

A teenage girl has died after being hit by a bus in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police have confirmed the news today and are now appealing for information following the incident which happened at just before 3pm yesterday (March 8) on Sheaf Lane in Sheldon.

A 15-year-old girl was seriously injured in the incident, and was later confirmed dead shortly after arriving at hospital.

The driver of the bus is helping with our enquiries as we establish the full circumstances around the collision.

PC Gail Arnold, from our serious collision investigation unit, said: "A young girl has tragically died and we'll be doing all we can to support her family during this deeply distressing time.

"We're working to establish the circumstances behind the collision and we're keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, and especially anyone with dash cam footage."
