Scottish Superstars in the spotlight as WWE brings Clash At The Castle to Glasgow
Drew McIntyre will compete for the World Heavyweight title on Saturday, with three other Scots competing on a star-studded night of wrestling

Scottish superstars will take centre stage on Saturday night, as WWE bring Clash At The Castle to the OVO Hydro in Glasgow.
It is the first time the company has broadcast a Premium Live Event from Scotland, with homegrown heroes featuring in three of the five matches on the card.
Glasgow’s own Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre will compete in a triple threat match for the Women’s Tag Team Titles against Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark and champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Piper Niven challenges Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship and, in the main event, Drew McIntyre will try and win back the World Heavyweight Championship against the man who spoiled his WrestleMania moment Damien Priest.
Drew hasn’t forgotten about that – he tells Jazz FM News: “I was attacked from behind by a coward. He took advantage of the situation, he stole my moment, and it was just a matter of time before I got it back.
“Unfortunately for him it just so happens we have the first ever Scottish PLE. I knew I was going to get my title match and it just so happens it’s going to be in Scotland.
“As far as I’m concerned he’s just a backdrop to what should have happened already, which is Drew McIntyre World Champion.”
The Ayrshire-born wrestling star has also been embroiled in an intense rivalry with CM Punk, who is currently out of action with an injury.
Drew insists he has no worries about a surprise appearance from Punk at Clash At The Castle: “He’s not been causing me any trouble. He just runs his mouth and pretends he wants to fight me.
“I’ve been causing him trouble. Every time he tries to run his mouth, because that’s what he known for, I run my mouth better, and then the one time we touch I beat him up and injure him because I’m actually an athlete and he’s not.”
While Drew McIntyre has tasted world championship success in the past, one superstar hoping to claim her first singles title is Ayrshire’s Piper Niven.
She tells Jazz FM News she’s hoping to use the nerves ahead of her big showdown with Women’s Champion Bayley to her advantage: “I’m feeling a little bit nervous, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing.
“I really think nerves just mean that you care, and that you’re passionate, and give you that little edge
“I think fans can expect me and Chelsea Green to be owning the stage and having all eyes on us as usual - and I think you can expect me panning in Bayley’s face and taking that championship home.”
As well as the matches featuring Scottish wrestlers the show will also see Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles renew their hostilities in an I Quit match for the Undisputed WWE Championship, and Sami Zayn defend his Intercontinental Championship against former friend turned rival Chad Gable.
