Nottingham Panthers retire former player Adam Johnson's jersey number

Nottingham Panthers paid tribute to Adam Johnson at the memorial match for the ice hockey player.

Tributes were paid to the young player on banners above the game.

A 4-all draw with Manchester Storm was their first fixture since the 29-year-old passed away after being cut on the neck by a skate in the game against Sheffield Steelers.

The game was described as 'uplifting and moving' in a tweet by the club.

Panthers say they want to "honour Adam and everything about who he was as a person and a player".

Adam Johnson, who was originally from Minnesota in the USA, signed for Nottingham Panthers in August.
