Detectives have charged a man with murder after a body was found in a house in Bury earlier this week.

Officers responded to reports of a burglary on Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe, at around 10:30am on Tuesday 22nd August.

They sadly found the body of 45 year old Donald 'Prentice' Patience, who was originally from Scotland.

Donald’s loved ones described him as “a much-loved son, brother and father and will be sorely missed by many, affectionately known as Prentice.”

It has now been established that Mr Patience had been dead for several days, although the cause of death is still unknown and will be investigated further by police experts.

Ian Gary Connell (01/08/1984), of Duke Street, Bolton, will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court today charged with murder.

Two other men, aged 27 and 41, have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team is still investigating the incident and information can be reported via a Major Incident Public Portal.
