There has been a major response from emergency services following a serious collision on the M25.

The incident took place between Junctions 15 and 16, which connect the London ring road to the M4 and M40 respectively.

Police and air ambulances were seen at the scene as traffic was halted going clockwise following the incident.

National Highways urged motorists to stay within their vehicles after the road was closed so that traffic could be released quicker.

As a result, major delays have been reported following the collision, with queues backing up as far as Junction 13, which leads onto the A30.

One lane currently remains closed going in the opposite direction, as forensics into the incident continue.
