Greater Manchester Police has hit out at a driver who let their child stand on top of the front seat as they drove.

The force uploaded a picture of the child stood up in the car as they drove past officers on Saturday evening (May 18th).

In the photo, the child can be seen standing on top of the seat, stood in the back of a pram that was feigned to looked like a car seat.

Following the incident, the force uploaded the picture to social media, much to the shock of the force's followers.

In the caption of the post, officers revealed that the incident took place on Woodland Avenue in Gorton in the east of the city.

The force said: "The driver passed a Greater Manchester Police Motorcycle Unit officer on Woodland Avenue, Gorton with the child standing on the front seat.

"You would be mistaken in thinking that’s a car seat. It is in fact, the back of a pram with a seatbelt wrapped around. Driver reported. Utterly ridiculous #fatal4."
