A Moray woman is urging the public for help to bring her pet duck home.

Dave, a Muscovy duck, has been on the Spynie Canal since Sunday after fleeing from his Lossiemouth home.

His feathers aren't waterproof, meaning he can't be on the water for long spells.

Despite efforts from Dave's owner, Fran Hutton, and even the SSPCA, they've been unable to rescue him.

Fran has even started a Facebook group to try and spread the word on the bird to see if anyone can help.

Ms Hutton explained how Dave managed to get away after initially flying onto their garden shed.

She said: "One of our collies thinks he's a sheep dog and that the ducks are sheep so he likes to round them up.

"We think that has initially startled Dave to go high.

"We've tried to coax him down, but we've obviously stressed him out a wee bit.

"Dave's being a typical bloke and not realising we're trying to help him, even the SSPCA were pulling their hair out.

"They were saying 'Dave! We're trying to help you!'

"He's only one though so he's just a baby. "

She urging the public for a larger type of netting so they can try and safely capture Dave and bring him home.

She added: "We're inundated with people with wet-suits, kayaks, canoes and things like that.

"What we need to do ideally is net off a section of the canal where Dave is and contain him to this one part."
