Two men have suffered serious injuries in a stabbing in Birmingham.

A cordon's in place near the Royal Suite venue in the Perry Barr area as an investigation gets underway.

Birchfield Road's the focus of police enquiries - they've had forensic tents and experts working at the scene there.

We know emergency services were called just before midnight at 11:50pm to reports a man had been stabbed.

They found two victims and rushed both to hospital.

One man has now been discharged but the other remains in a serious condition.

Forensic teams have been working at the scene - and there's been no news yet on any arrests.

A 21-year-old and another man aged 25 have been arrested on suspicion of affray and remain in police custody.

Police are looking at CCTV from the area and speaking to witnesses.

A number of cars were also left at the scene that are being forensically analysed.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

"We were called to reports of a stabbing on Birchfield Road at 11.52pm, two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor with a Critical Care Paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered two male patients. One of whom was treated for serious injuries whilst the other was treated for potentially serious injuries before they were both taken to hospital."

Enquiries are ongoing to establish what took place.
