Leroy Logan - Jazz FM Voices

Leroy Logan MBE joins Ruth Fisher to talk about his contributions to policing, and his recent influence and involvement with Steve McQueen’s ‘Small Axe’ series.

As the first chair of the National Black Police Association, former superintendent in the Metropolitan police and author of Closing Ranks: My Life as a Cop, Leroy’s legacy has inspired huge change since the 1980s and he continues to pave the way for conversations on race and equality, within and outside of the police force.

The Macpherson Report coined the phrase "institutionalised racism," which is used to describe policies and procedures that adversely affect persons from ethnic minority groups after the death of Stephen Lawrence.The Stephen Lawrence inquiry was published in 1999. This watershed moment gave way to huge cultural change and informed thinking within the police in the UK.
