Shabaka Hutchings on the shifting jazz landscape

As part of our 30th birthday celebrations, the pivotal saxophonist of the contemporary jazz scene Shabaka Hutchings came in to talk with Anne Frankenstein.

The pair discussed the landscape of the current jazz scene, with Shabaka claiming "it's changed massively. In some ways it's unbelievable in that it's shifted from something that was...very niche and seen as a very specialised endeavour why some people are just just seemed that they were antisocial, misfits, you know, who are dedicated to a particular course of history into something that is seen as a cool…"
