Welcome to A to Z, as heard on Afternoons with Jamie Crick. Every week, on-air and online, we are alphabetically exploring and paying homage to some of the great musicians, performers, albums, record labels and artists we love.

Continuing our progression along the alphabet, we've reached the letter K... So, let's take a look at: Kamasi Washington, Keb' Mo, Kenny Burrell, Kool & The Gang and the album Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.

Kamasi Washington

LA-based saxophonist and composer Kamasi Washington has swiftly become a household name within the jazz world, becoming a torchbearer and figurehead for the contemporary scene. After releasing his album The Epic in 2015, he now stands on centre stage within the jazz and music world alike.

Keb' Mo

The multi-award winning bluesman Keb' Mo has been on the scene for over four decades now.

Kenny Burrell

American jazz guitarist Kenneth "Kenny" Burrell is synonymous with the prestigious Blue Note Records label.

Kind of Blues by Miles Davis

Although it's contentious, many consider the record to be the best selling jazz albums of all time. Kind of Blue**__** was different from any jazz album that had come before it – it's an exploration of what's referred to as 'modal jazz'.

Kool & The Gang

Formed in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States, have traveled through various musical styles in their nearly six decade career. They are still led by founding member Robert "Kool" Bell.
