Yamaha Music is launching a search for the UK’s best funk acts, with a new competition with a series of rounds at their flagship store in London later this month. Bands, duos or soloists will perform for a panel of judges, with the chance for winners to perform on stage at Love Supreme Festival in the summer (festival director Ciro Romano will be on the judging panel).

Organisers say they’re looking for anything from raw funk, soulful grooves, dance music, Latin Funk, Funky Soul, Jazz Beats to House and everything in between. The four heats will take place in London’s Wardour Street store on 19 and 26 October, then 2 and 9 November. The winner of each heat will go forward to the grand finale on 16 November 2017. ‘Funk it up Thursdays’ will be free for the public to attend and support.
