Winners announced for Parliamentary Jazz Awards
Jazz FM’s Chris Philips won best Jazz Media Award!
The APPJAG Parliamentary Jazz Awards were held in London last night, where politicians and musicians come together to celebrate the genre. It is normally hosted at The Houses of Parliament, but this year moved to a new home at Pizza Express’s new venue in Holburn.
Winners this year included vocalist Cleveland Watkiss, instrumentalist Shabaka Hutchings, and jazz educators Tomorrows Warriors. The jazz venue of the year was won by Scarborough Jazz Festival and Jazz FM’s own Chris Philips was awarded the jazz media prize. Guitarist Jim Mullen was given a special prize to honour his decades’ hard work on the UK scene.
Compare Ross Dines from Pizza Express said “This has been a really strong year for the Parliamentary Jazz Awards in terms of talent and nominations.
