WATCH: The Simpsons get jazzy with New Orleans special episode
The cartoon has tied in with the city's tri-centennial celebrations over the weekend
The Simpsons (which has recently become the longest-running scripted series in television history) have broadcast their own special tribute to the birthplace of jazz - a dedicated episode set in New Orleans with guest star Trombone Shorty. In 'Lisa Gets The Blues' broadcast in the US on Sunday night, Lisa has lost her mojo - she needs inspiration to play her baritone saxophone again, but as fate would have it, the famous family end up in the Crecent City by chance...
Meanwhile, unsurprisingly, Homer was more interested New Orleans cuisine…
The special episode co-insides with the tri-centennial celebrations in the city. Top jazz stars have come together this weekend to celebrate New Orleans 300th birthday, with a huge free concert in the city, led by Herbie Hancock and featuring Terance Blanchard, Ledisi, Patti Austin, Philip Bailey and Jon Cleary. Herbie says it was an incredible time; the show will be available to stream online from next week.
