Four-time Grammy Award-winning bassist Christian McBride, who has worked and recorded with James Brown, Pat Metheny and Chick Corea to Sting, The and Paul McCartney, is to release an album recorded live at the legendary Village Vanguard in New York City where he made his debut as band leader in 1995. Together with his trio including drummer Ulysses Owens Jr. and pianist Christian Sands, McBride follows in the footsteps of many great jazz and historic musicians who did the same.

"You can literally feel the ghosts of all of the legends that played there," McBride says. "You feel Coltrane hovering in the vortex. You feel Monk hovering in the vortex. Miles Davis, Mingus...you feel all of that in the air."

The album will contain nine tracks of originals, jazz standards including 'Cherokee' and 'Good Morning Heartache' and R&B / pop covers including Michael Jackson's 'Lady In My Life' and Rose Royce's 'Car Wash'. It's released on Mack Avenue Records Sept 18.
