Danny Bennett, son and manager of his father Tony Bennett, has been appointed CEO of Universal Music’s new Verve Label Group.

The Verve Record label is one of the iconic legacy jazz labels and now in its 60th year. During its long history it has released classic recordings from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone as well as a current roster including Diana Krall and Melody Gardot.

In the Verve Label is also the reactivated Impulse! label, with new albums by John Scofield, Jacky Terrasson and Kenny Barron. Last year the label also released the 50th anniversary edition of John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme: The Complete Masters.

Under Bennett’s control the new group will be located in New York City and will also inherit classical labels Deutsche Grammophon, Decca Records, Decca Classics and Mercury Classics, as well as Universal Music distributed (U.S) ECM Records.

Multiple Grammy Award-winning producer David Foster steps down to return to producing full time after running Verve for the last four years.
