UNESCO World Jazz Day concert at London's Union Chapel to feature Robin Eubanks

UNESCO World Jazz Day returns on April 30th and sees British outfit The Human Revolution Orchestra play a special concert ‘Ode to the Human Spirit 2015’ with special guest Robin Eubanks at The Union Chapel in Islington, North London. 

Internationally renowned American trombonist and composer Eubanks is one of three prominent jazz musician brothers along with guitarist Kevin and trumpeter Duane.

One of the main supporters of World Jazz Day has been pianist Herbie Hancock, who is also a Buddhist. Both Robin Eubanks and Sean Corby, Artistic Director of The Human Revolution Orchestra, share their Soka Gakkai Buddhism.

Corby commented, “The event seeks to celebrate jazz as a symbol of unity and peace: its universalism and inclusivity, freedom of expression, artistic innovation. There is a Buddhist principle called ‘many in body, one in mind’ which expresses a kind of unity towards a shared yet deeply personal commitment to an overarching goal or idea. The Human Revolution Orchestra aims to be a model of solidarity among people working to create positive change in the world through respectful and spontaneous collaboration. And in doing so, touch the hearts of all who encounter them.”

Saxophonist Jason Yarde and electronic musician Jason Singh will also guest along with an orchestra packed with top British jazz talent including Simon Purcell, Larry Bartley, Denys Baptiste, Martin Speake and Byron Wallen.
