Trumpeter Ingrid Jensen to tour the North

One of the leading trumpeters of her generation, Canadian born Ingrid Jensen will be joining an initiative taking place throughout the North of England.

With the support of Arts Council England, an organisation called Apollo Jazz Network in partnership with NORVOL (a network of voluntary jazz promoters in the North of England) is setting out to bring renowned World class jazz musicians to work with British musicians and tour in the North.

Ingrid Jensen has lived in New York City for over twenty years. As a big band soloist, she spent many years with the GRAMMY Award winning Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra and currently performs with the multi-award winning Darcy James Argue's Secret Society. As a band leader and in small groups she has recently recorded with Ben Monder (guitarist David Bowie's Blackstar), Bill Stewart, Steve Tresseler, Jason Miles and Terri Lynne Carrington. She regularly appears in the Downbeat Critics Poll for trumpet.

Aside from a busy performing schedule, Ingrid is a renowned educator (becoming the youngest ever professor or trumpet at Bruckner Conservatory in Austria aged 25) and leads masterclasses across the world.

Ingrid Jensen will be in the UK from May 23rd until 6th June. Her touring schedule includes performances in Newcastle (26th May), Leeds (28th + 29th May), Scarborough (1st June), Wakefield (3rd June) and concluding at Ronnie Scott's in London on 5th June.
