Tomorrow’s Warriors, in association with Turner Sims and Southampton Music Hub, are launching a new music education project from this week  - ‘The Jazz Ticket’ will be delivered in 54 schools in Southampton,  Luton, Leicestershire, Manchester, Gateshead, Brighton, Bristol, Hull and London, and engage almost 600 young people as performers and many more as audience members.

Six giants of jazz will be the inspiration for the work, as they all celebrate their centenaries in 2017: composer 'Tadd' Dameron, vocalist Ella Fitzgerald, trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, pianist Thelonious Monk, drummer Buddy Rich, and percussionist Mongo Santamaria.

Young musicians aged 11-18 will work with leading jazz professionals to develop their performance and improvisation skills whilst exploring the history of the genre, culminating in a series of concerts in prestigious venues.

Fish Krish, special project’s manager at Tomorrow’s Warriors says “We aim to inspire young people and give them the opportunity to explore jazz and their own creativity whilst celebrating these six extraordinary Jazz artists who have had such a huge and lasting impact on the genre.”
