‘This Joint Is Jumpin’ with new jazz musical

The music of Fats Waller has been turned into a West End song-and-dance show

The music of piano legend Fats Waller is to form the basis of a new musical, which is opening in London’s West End next month. ‘This Joint Is Jumpin’ boasts a fusion of live music, tap dancing and storytelling, with interpretations of Fats classics like ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’, ‘Black and Blue’ and ‘Honeysuckle Rose’. It’s produced by Hoagy B Carmichael, following in the footsteps of his famous father and the music is directed by Michael Mwenso featuring his band The Shakes. Performers include Broadway star Lillias White, and British Actor Samuel Anderson (Dr. Who, The History Boys, Gavin and Stacey).
