Concord Music are to re-issue the full Thelonious Monk recordings on it’s legacy imprint, Riverside Recordings. A total of 153 performances between 1955 and 1963 from the iconic pianist and composer are presented chronologically. These will include an abandoned session with drummer Shelly Manne, partial takes and studio conversation. Collaborations with Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Gerry Mulligan, Clark Terry, Max Roach and many more are included in this 15 CD set due for release on May 19th.
The collection was originally re-issued in 1986 and received a Grammy. It is re-presented here in sleeker new packaging and with Riverside Recordings founder Orin Keepnews’ liner notes.
