The Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2016 is presenting an exciting line-up from 13th – 29th May. Contemporary, classical and jazz sit alongside visual arts, dance, film and literary attractions.

One of the biggest arts festivals in the UK, jazz highlights for this year’s programme include Sun Ra Arkestra, celebrating their 60th anniversary, saxophonist Branford Marsalis and Grammy-nominated funk-jazz quintet Kneebody.

Following up his acclaimed solo saxophone album ‘In My Solitude: Live at Grace Cathedral’ in San Francisco, Branford Marsalis will play Norwich Cathedral on Tuesday 24th May.

Sun Ra Arkestra, recognised for their impact on the sound and evolution of avant garde jazz, play OPEN Norwich on Friday May 13th, led by the energetic 91 year old saxophonist Marshall Allen who has been a member for 58 years.

The Festival also presents the noise recyclists and highly entertaining Jazz FM Award-nominated Tin Men and the Telephone. Using ‘Tinmendo’, the revolutionary smartphone app designed by the trio, the audience are able to spontaneously contribute to the direction of the show in real time. They will perform at Norwich Playhouse on Wednesday 25th & Thursday 26th May. GRAMMY-nominated edgy punk-funk-jazz outfit Kneebody & electronic musician Daedelus will be at The Adnams Spiegeltent on Sunday 22nd May.

Anglo-Norwegian group Time Is a Blind Guide, led by composer and percussionist Thomas Strønen, perform music from their recent self-titled debut release. The group includes chamber musicians alongside a jazz trio and they play Norwich Playhouse on Monday 23rd May.
