Sly Stone awarded $5 million

A Los Angeles Supreme Court has awarded soul singer Sly Stone $5 million in unpaid royalties after a four year legal battle. Stone's lawyers argued that his former manager and entertainment lawyer Jerry Goldstein and Glenn Stone had tricked him into becoming an employee of a company he owned called Even St.

Despite claims to the contrary by lawyers for the defence that monies collected has been used to pay Stone’s tax debts the jury returned a $5 million verdict in his favour.

Nicholas Hornberger, one of Sly Stone’s lawyers said ”Sly’s a deeply religious guy and he loves everybody and they just took him. It's sad that people would treat other people like that. This is endemic of the entertainment industry. There are bad people who leech off people and this has got to stop."

Stone had notoriously been living out of a van in Los Angeles after being left broke.
