Wright started her career as a backing singer before releasing her first album in 1968 and scoring worldwide hits with ‘Clean Up Woman’ and ‘Where is the Love?’. She spent much of the rest of her life as a producer and mentor to younger artists, many of whom were singing her praises after her death.
She collaborated with dozens of performers over her career including Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Beyonce and The Roots.
