R&B singer Angie Stone was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after it was alleged she attacked her daughter causing her to lose some of her front teeth.
Police in DeKalb County, Georgia, were called to Stone's home last Monday evening where her daughter Diamond Stone, 30, told them they’d had an argument that turned physical.
Stone is alleged to have hit her daughter in the face with the metal stand. She claimed it was in self-defence. A police report though seems to indicate that Angie Stone didn't know she had hit her daughter with the metal stand.
Angie Stone claimed her daughter’s teeth were in extremely poor condition before the tussle. Diamond Stone said, “it don't matter if my teeth were rotten or not... I could have gotten a root canal, but she finished the job."
The pair were taken in for questioning and later released by police, Diamond Stone without charge and Angie Stone on a bail bond of $10,000, charged with domestic aggravated assault.
Grammy Award-winner Angie Stone has released six solo studio albums in a career that began in the late 1970s with hip hop act The Sequence. She was a member of the group Vertical Hold and also shares credits on the first two albums by D’Angelo, with whom she has a son Michael D'Angelo Archer II, born in 1998.
