Samuel Blaser slides in for London Jazz Festival
Highly inventive Swiss trombonist Samuel Blaser is to play London’s Club Inégales on November 15th blurring boundaries between jazz, blues, contemporary classical and free improvisation.
Swiss trombonist Samuel Blaser is to play London’s Club Inégales on November 15th. He’ll be performing music from his latest release ‘Spring Rain,’ a tribute to the late American clarinettist and composer Jimmy Giuffre. This will be one of the more interesting nights at the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Blaser has gained a reputation for blurring the boundaries between jazz, blues, contemporary classical and free improvisation, continually striving to develop new ways of presenting the trombone. He explains, “I would like to show that the trombone can be melodic and have various forms of expression, and that I am not just interested in free jazz – you can't categorise my music in one space. I want people to know that there is jazz, blues, classical music, beautiful melodies and no boundaries."
His trio includes pianist Russ Lossing, bassist Drew Gress and drummer Gerald Cleaver. See more on this event here.
