The Robert Glasper-led supergroup R+R=NOW have released their second album, R+R=NOW LIVE.

The new live album is taken from material whilst the group held a residency at Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City back in October 2018.

R+R=NOW LIVE features standout tracks from their debut studio album Collagically Speaking, which was released back in June 2018, as well as a cover of Kendrick Lamar's 'How Much a Dollar Cost'.

Formed back in 2017, the group consists of Robert Glasper (keys), Terrace Martin (synth, vocoder, alto saxophone), Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah (trumpet), Derrick Hodge (bass), Taylor McFerrin (synth) and Justin Tyson (drums).

Terrace Martin and Robert Glasper have recently teamed up together as part of another supergroup project - Dinner Party - which also features Kamasi Washington and 9th Wonder (Patrick Douthit), releasing their debut project in 2020.

Stemming from a famous Nina Simone quote, “R+R stands for ‘Reflect’ and ‘Respond’,” says Glasper, “When you reflect what's going on in your time and respond to that, you can't not be relevant. So ‘R’ plus ‘R’ equals ‘NOW’.”

At the end of 2020, Robert Glasper presented the legendary Herbie Hancock with the PPL Lifetime Achievement Award at the Jazz FM Awards 2020.

Glasper himself is a recipient of a Jazz FM Award, being awarded the Cutting Edge Award for Jazz Innovation back in 2013.
