Ronnie Scott’s Instrument Amnesty returns
The world famous jazz club is asking people to donate unused or unwanted instruments
Ronnie Scott’s Charitable Foundation has announced details of its second Music Instrument Amnesty, which aims to breathe new life into old instruments by offering them to young aspiring musicians who might not otherwise afford them. It follows the success of the 2015 amnesty, where instruments were distributed in the UK, but also Mexico, Palestine, Haiti and Mozambique.
Organised in association with Music Fund, instruments and equipment are distributed through a network of ten charities that participate in ambitious 'social action through music' projects in targeted communities. Each donor is issued with a tracking number so that their instrument to can be tracked to its final destination.
If you want to donate something this year, the club will open its doors on Saturday 28th October from 1000-1600.
The foundation was set up two years ago to support music education for underprivileged children in the UK and abroad. A gala concert has just been announced for November, featuring live music from vocalist Curtis Stigers as he swings through his ‘Sinatra At The Sands’ material, backed up by the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra. A number of special surprise guests are also being lined up.
