There was drama yesterday in the heart of London’s Soho as a fire forced the evacuation of iconic Ronnie Scotts jazz club. Smoke engulfed Frith Street after a fire broke out in a restaurant near the club. Around 30 firefighters and 6 fire engines tackled the fire at lunch time which they believe started in the restaurant’s extraction system.

One eye witness said, ”All the poor people from Ronnie Scott's had to run out in their party hats - they do Christmas lunches there at this time of year.”

Nobody was injured and the fire was brought under control.
