In Japan last week a female humanoid, robot, jazz vocalist serenaded onlookers near Tokyo Station. It was part of a program of events organized by Tokyo University of the Arts.
Placed at the centre of the band it looked, from distance, like a regular jazz quartet. Upon closer inspection the female singer proved to be an emotionless machine, realistically mouthing and swivelling eyes to a recorded voice track.
Real life musicians helped the the humanoid sing “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Body and Soul,” and other classics.
