The soundtrack to new movie ‘Miles Ahead’ will be released on April 1st comprising 11 cuts from Miles’ catalogs on Prestige and Columbia Records together with original new music from performed by pianist Robert Glasper. The soundtrack also features appearances by Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, rapper Pharoahe Monch and more with sleeve notes written by Don Cheadle, director and star of the movie.

Glasper has also been given the golden keys to the vaults to examine and sample the Miles Davis catalogues. The result of this is a re-imagination Miles’ music featuring Bilal, Erykah Badu, Phonte, Hiatus Kaiyote, Georgia Ann Muldrow, John Scofield, Ledisi, Stevie Wonder and more.

The second album ‘Everything’s Beautiful’ is due for release the day after Miles’ 90th anniversary on May 27th. The first single from this, ’Ghetto Walkin’ featuring vocalist Bilal sees Glasper sampling ‘The Ghetto Walk’ from the recently issued full ‘In A Silent Way’ recordings to create a cool hip hop mood piece. This is available now and has already been featured on Jazz FM.
