Pianist Robert Glasper has announced a series of UK concerts this summer, taking in Manchester, Brecon and Edinburgh before finishing with 3 nights at London’s Ronnie Scott’s.
Glasper recently returned to the acoustic piano trio format, after success with two volumes of his ’Black Radio’ r&b project, for his next Blue Note release ‘Covered’. It was recorded live at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles in December last year. Joining him on the shows will be the same trio as the recording with bassist Vicente Archer and drummer Damion Reid, both of whom performed on Glasper's first two albums for Blue Note.
The set list will feature music by hip-hop and r&b stars like Kendrick Lamar (who’s album ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ features Glasper on 8 tracks), John Legend, Musiq Soulchild, Joni Mitchell, Radiohead and Bilal alongside select standards. He also re-works his own ‘I Don’t Even Care,’ a bonus cut from ‘Black Radio 2’ that featured Macy Gray and Jean Grae.
