Record-breaking Ron Carter

Grammy award-winning Ron Carter has officially been named by Guinness World Records as the most recorded bassist in history. Carter is named on 2,221 individual recording credits up to September 15th, 2015.

Ron carter played in the second great Miles Davis Quintet in the early 1960s with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Tony Williams. His bass was heard on Miles’ albums ‘Seven Steps to Heaven’ and ‘E.S.P.’. He played on many classic Blue Note recordings too for Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Horace Silver and more as well as work with George Benson and Chick Corea.

Ron Carter still plays and performs at 78 years old, starring at last year’s North Sea Jazz Festival and is also a member of the Gerry Gibbs Thrasher Dream Trio along with veteran pianist Kenny Barron and drummer Gibbs.
