PREVIEW: Glasgow Jazz Festival 2015

Some of the biggest names in jazz and soul from around the world are gathering in Scotland for five days of live music, starting today.

Now in its 29th year, the festival takes place from Wednesday to Sunday this week, across a number of city venues. The Royal Concert Hall will host the international headliners Gladys Knight and Frank Sinatra Jr. on Thursday and Sunday respectively, while funk band Family Stone play at the world famous ABC on Sauchiehall Street. Brazilian keyboard player Marcos Valle is playing on Saturday night, along with English acid jazz legends JTQ.

Flying the flag for Scotland itself will be Average White Band’s Hamish Stuart, Shetlander Rachael Cohen and the explosive (and brilliantly named) Federation Of The Disco Pimp.

For some artists, the opportunity provides a warm up for Jazz FM’s own Love Supreme Festival – The Vampires, Jarrod Lawson, Taylor McFerrin and Partisans will all be travelling from Glasgow to Glynde Place in the course of next week.
