Pianist Django Bates wins an award from BASCA

Pianist, composer and educator Django Bates has won an award from the British Academy Of Song Writers, Composers and Authors for his work 'The Study Of Touch'.

Pianist, composer and educator Django Bates has won an award from the British Academy Of Song Writers, Composers and Authors (BASCA) in a ceremony at London’s Goldsmiths’ Hall.

We reported on October 20th that his name was shortlisted along with saxophonists Julian Argüelles and John Butcher. Bates won the award for a work called ‘The Study of Touch’ which was written for the Grammy-nominated Norrbotten Big Band from northern Sweden. He premiered it at the BBC Proms with his own Belovèd Trio. 

Django Bates is a founder member of the legendary 1980s band Loose Tubes, Delightful Precipice, Beloved Trio and more.
