Award winning pianist and composer Peter Edwards is set to tour his new show “A Journey with the giants of jazz”. He’ll lead the Nu Civilisation Orchestra in a performance inspired by, and paying tribute to artists who would have been 100 this year – Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Mongo Santamaria, Tadd Dameron and Buddy Rich.

The event combines archive film portraits with live performance from the likes of Binker Golding (of Jazz FM Award-winning Binker & Moses) on tenor saxophone; Nathaniel Facey (Empirical) on alto saxophone; Byron Wallen on trumpet; and Gary Crosby (Jazz Jamaica) on double bass.

The artists will also tap into local young talent in the cities they visit, performing as part of The Jazz Ticket nationwide music programme. It’s supported by PRS Foundation’s New Music Biennial.

Performance dates include...

Sunday 2nd July – Hull Minster, Hull
Saturday 8th July – Southbank Centre, London
Thursday 13th July – Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester
