One of America’s most respected jazz radio hosts Bob Parlocha, who had a long run at former Bay Area station KJazz (KJAZ) has died aged 76. Until his death on March 15th Bob still hosted his widely syndicated show ‘Jazz with Bob Parlocha’ through the night. It also aired on KJazz 88.1 (KKJZ), out of California State University, in Long Beach.

He became the host of KJAZ’s ‘Dinner Jazz’ back in 1978 and latterly became the station’s music director. The station was sold on in 1994 and Parlocha relocated to Chicago.

Parlocha’s relaxed, anecdotal style and detailed knowledge of the music he played was endearing. He was also a professional saxophonist and produced several recordings.
