Multi-award winning drummer, producer, composer and occasional Jazz FM broadcaster Ollie Howell is set to release his second album 'Self Identity', via the Ropeadope label on 17th March 2017.

'Self Identity' is the follow up to 'Sutures and Stitches' which was hailed by The Guardian as a “fine debut” with Mojo highlighting the “delicious dynamic flow and an almost elegiac beauty” of the record. By releasing the album new via Ropeadope, Ollie will join a growing family of jazz innovators such as Christian Scott and Terrace Martin.

Speaking about the announcement, Ollie said: “I definitely think the experiences I’ve had have influenced the way I compose. With this new album the most important thing was to really push myself creatively and compositionally and I’m really excited to get this music out into the world.”

Louis Marks from Ropeadope went on to say: “So much of what we do is about FEEL, and Ollie Howell’s compositions and playing have a distinct feel that conveys light and hope in the midst of complexity. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Ollie on his next release.”

Ollie is currently the first ever artist in residence at Quincy Jones’ brand new jazz club at the Palazzo Versace in Dubai. Q himself will cut the ribbon on the club next Thursday the 8th December.
