WATCH: New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center release concert archive

If you’re missing the thrill of live music during lockdown, then how about some world-class jazz from New York? Wynton Marsalis and his Jazz at Lincoln Center have unlocked their vaults and are now releasing weekly 2-hour concert videos on their YouTube channel! Already there’s a chance to watch their ‘Music of Miles Davis’ show, their ‘South African Songbook’ and a family concert called ‘Who is Chick Corea’ featuring the Jazz for Young People All-Stars. They’ve also now added a concert from 2018 with the orchestra tackling some of Thelonious Monk's best-loved tunes, including ‘Well, You Needn't’, ‘Ruby, My Dear’, and ‘Misterioso’.

Mr. Marsalis extended his thanks to those who have supported the JALC and stressed how important the music is, saying “it’s an art that belongs to all of us, wherever in the world we may live. Jazz is inescapably hopeful music, it’s infused with the power to lift us up over the toughest of times, and these are very hard times for musicians; we’re locked away from our audiences but not from our art.”
