Jazz vocalist José James has premiered a new video through website vice.com. James has cut a rousing acoustic version of Sam Cooke’s ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’. The video is entitled ‘Peace Power Change’ and takes on racial injustice in America. It’s inspired by the solidarity and galvanising effect in African American communities after accusations of police brutality of both black men and women and several deaths at the hands of police that caused civil unrest.
Simple close up shots of a number of profile African American men and women feature in the video with signs containing phrases and names of the young men. Jazz musicians Casey Benjamin, Robert Glasper and Christian McBride are included.
