New UK tour for Bill Laurance Project begins this Saturday May 23rd

Keyboardist Bill Laurance admits he likes to break down the barriers between music genres. His training is firmly rooted in classical music but is hugely influenced by Roni Size and Goldie’s brand of drum and bass, growing up in an era of progressive electronic dance music. His ability to improvise and play jazz is clear too as the sole British contingent of Grammy Award-winning American band Snarky Puppy as well as two genre defying albums to his own name. He brings his own Bill Laurance Project and band back to the UK for six dates beginning this Saturday May 23rd at London’s Union Chapel. 

The tour will support his second album ‘Swift’, a superb sequel to ‘Flint’, which continues to demonstrate his delicate playing and inventive composition together with creative post production and engineering ideas. 

The tour band will again include fellow Pups, bassist and band leader Michael League and drummer Robert ‘Sput’ Searight plus a string section from the Netherlands’ Metropole Orkest, known as the Westside Trio. Lawrence also include Katie Christie on French horn. “I really like the sound of the lower horns, French horns and trombones,” he told Jazz FM’s Chris Philips. The Union Chapel date is already sold out but further dates include Manchester’s Band on the Wall on May 25th, Hall Two, The Sage Gateshead on Mat 26th, Nottingham Contemporary May 27th, Colston Hall, Bristol May 28th and finally St George’s Church in Brighton on My 29th. 

Bill Laurance and his band will also be one of the highlights of this year’s Love Supreme Festival at Glynde Place, Sussex, July 3rd - 5th.
