Montreux Jazz Festival has announced a new online platform, Montreux Live, with more than 800 videos recorded at their festivals down the years. Performances by Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus and more, plus pop stars who have played Montreux such as David Bowie and Prince can be seen for free.
This comes just prior to the 50th Anniversary edition of the festival this July, with the full line-up due to be revealed on April 14th. It’s believed there will be a gala concert directed by Quincy Jones, who programmed Montreux 25.
The Montreux Jazz Festival began in 1967 and is held annually in early July in Montreux, Switzerland, on the shore of Lake Geneva. Co-founder Claude Nobs died in 2013.
