New Grant Green recordings released
Three concert recordings are commercially available for the first time
Today (25 May) sees the release of three new Grant Green recordings. The great jazz guitarist played as a leader and a sideman with Blue Note records through the sixties and died in 1979 but Resonance Records has unveiled a set of previously unreleased concert recordings, including a heavy bebop show for a Paris radio station in 1969, two more appearances in Antibes in 1970 under the title “Funk In France” and a more straight ahead set recorded in Vancouver’s Oil Can Harry’s venue in 1975.
Grant Green has recently been celebrated with a pop hit by British DJ Mr. Jukes and US soul singer Charles Bradley, while Green’s eldest son will perform some of the music live on a US tour to coincide with the release.
