New film score box set and UK dates for US jazz man David Amram

Award-winning American composer, film scorer and author David Amram is to play London and Manchester including an intimate evening with Q&A at Ray's Jazz December 1st.

Award-winning American composer, conductor and author David Amram will be celebrating the launch of his new 5 CD album ‘David Amram's Classic American Film Scores 1956-2016’ with an evening of performance and conversation at Ray’s Jazz, part of Foyles Books in London’s Charing Cross Road, on Tuesday 1st December from 6:30pm.

A pianist, flautist and pioneer of French Horn in jazz, Amram, who is also celebrating his 85th birthday, has a career that spans six decades as composer and performer. He has worked with great names including Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Leonard Bernstein, Christopher Plummer and Bob Dylan. 

He plays the Auditorium on Level 6 at Foyles along with his son Adam, with a selection from his classic film and Broadway scores, which include The Manchurian Candidate, Splendor in the Grass, The Young Savages and Pull My Daisy. The event includes a Q&A session, and a chance to bag a signed copy of the box set and some of his books.

David Amram will also play Sunday November 29th at London's Electric Carousel Cabaret Club with Guy Barker and full band and with his quintet on December 2nd and 3rd at La Gitane Club, Manchester.
