October 26th 2015 will see the release of a DVD documentary, ‘Tubby Hayes – A Man In A Hurry,’ about the much missed British jazz saxophone, flute and vibraphone giant. The film is narrated by actor, and Tubby Hayes fan, Martin Freeman.

Featuring exclusive interviews with people that knew him, colleaugues, those influenced by his music, music industry figures and his fans, it charts his life and times.

Tubby became the first solo UK jazz performer to be invited to play in the United States.  Miles Davis famously attended his first gig in New York and back home he was greatly in demand by travelling American musicians and band like Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones and Dizzy Gillespie.

Hayes' fast lifestyle and drug abuse finally took him down aged just 38 leaving a huge void in British Jazz.
